SUMMARY:Short Story Writing Workshop with Kritika Pandey (Online)
DESCRIPTION:From Idea to Article: Writing Non-Fiction Online with Rega Jha\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis Short Story Writing Masterclass is led by Kritika Pandey. The earlier ten were sold out or almost full\, and received rave reviews. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe Alien in Me: Writing Beyond Identity\n\n\n\nIn the era of artificial intelligence\, when stories are reduced to patterns and predictions\, this short story masterclass invites you to unlearn those patterns. Explore the versions of yourself that won’t hold still. Let language do something you wouldn’t normally permit.  \n\n\n\nAfter all\, to be human is to resist interpretation.  \n\n\n\nWe are creatures who don’t quite cohere and keep going anyway. \n\n\n\nSo how do you write fiction that is\, in the words of Albert Camus\, “the lie through which we tell the truth?” Now that machines can pass as human\, how do you write something that goes beyond personal history\, identity markers\, and a stable sense of self? How do you expand that mysterious entity called consciousness when even quantum physicists are unsure about it? And in an increasingly polarized world\, how do you tell stories about people’s myriad universal complexities\, not just their narrow political leanings? \n\n\n\nThis workshop will explore those questions and more. \n\n\n\nTogether\, we’ll encounter The Thunder\, Perfect Mind\, a 2nd-century CE Gnostic text of unknown authorship. We’ll place it alongside the ancient Chinese wisdom of the Dao De Jing and the ascetic Upanishadic philosophy of neti neti.  \n\n\n\nBut we won’t get lost in abstraction. \n\n\n\nWe’ll ground ourselves in the work of writing as we think through elements of craft such as: \n\n\n\n\nHow to pass the time in fiction\n\n\n\nEscalation and causality in storytelling\n\n\n\nThe narrative significance of not knowing what comes next\n\n\n\nHow the best dialogue can reveal character\, present information\, and move the plot forward\, all at once\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Summary\n\n\n\n\n\nUSD 200 for International payments \n\n\n\n**Please note: The price is exclusive of GST. So the full price is INR 15\,000 + GST. \n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n APPLY NOW\n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis class is for any writer who has ever attempted to write a short story\, irrespective of whether they have a complete work to submit.
